O teatro também é Arte, mas não uma Arte Visual e sim uma Arte Cênica. Portanto, imagino que no curso de artes visuais não se estude teatro.
A Área de Arte geralmente é subdividida em:
Artes Visuais (artes plásticas, fotografia, pintura, escultura, video-arte etc)
Artes Musicais (música erudita e popular)
Artes Cênicas (teatro e dança)
